Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron & Virtual Box

If you’ve just upgraded to Hardy Heron and found that Virtual Box no longer works it might be because your host’s CD is now called something else. Mine became /dev/scd0 after the upgrade. All I had to do was detach it from the virtual machine and reattach it & everything works fine.

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron & VMware Server

If you’ve just upgraded to Hardy Heron and found that VMware Server no longer works, take a look at Installing VMware 6.0.2 and VMware Server on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04. You’ll find an explanation of what needs to be changed and, even better, a patched version of vmware-any-any-update115 that’ll make it work!
